Boys basketball:

Torrey Pines extended its winning streak to 18 games as the top-seeded Falcons trounced No. 8 Vista, 68-38, in a San Diego Section Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 27.

Dominic Hovasse scored 19 points to lead the Falcons, and Jackson Strong and Jack Heller added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Marek Sullivan contributed 10 rebounds and four assists.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 28-2.

• No. 2 La Costa Canyon defeated No. 7 Mission Bay, 63-49, in an Open Division quarterfinal on Feb. 27.

Brady Twombly scored 21 points to lead the Mavericks, and Tommy McCarthy and Travis Fuller added 14 and 13 points, respectively.

The Mavericks improved their overall record for the season to 22-6.

• No. 3-seeded Cathedral Catholic lost to No. 6 Poway, 67-64, in a Division I quarterfinal on Feb. 27.

The Dons opened the playoffs with an 80-68 victory over No. 14 San Ysidro on Feb. 24.

The Dons fell to 17-9 overall for the season.

• No. 12 Santa Fe Christian lost to No. 4 Francis Parker, 56-37, in a Division I playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 27.

The Eagles opened the playoffs with a 52-45 upset victory over No. 5 Grossmont three days earlier.

The Eagles fell to 12-16 overall for the season.

• No. 16 Canyon Crest Academy lost to No. 1 Morse, 94-81, in a Division I first round game on Feb. 24.

The Ravens fell to 8-20 overall for the season.

• No. 13 San Diego Jewish Academy lost to No 4 Hilltop, 69-39, in a first-round playoff game on Feb. 24.

The Lions fell to 12-13 overall for the season.

• No. 13 San Dieguito Academy lost to No. 4 Orange Glen, 48-44, in a Division III first-round playoff game on Feb. 24.

The Mustangs fell to 4-17 overall for the season.

Girls basketball:

• No. 3-seeded La Costa Canyon defeated No. 6 Westview, 58-49, in an Open Division quarterfinal on Feb. 28.

Rachel Dumiak scored 19 points to lead the Mavericks, and Taylor Pierce added 18 points.

The Mavericks improved their overall record for the season to 23-5.

• No. 4 Torrey Pines defeated No. 5 La Jolla Country Day, 71-67, in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 28.

Sierra Campisano scored 21 points to lead the Falcons, and Christina Ellis added 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Ayli Tulberg and Rachel Shen added 15 and 13 points, respectively.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 22-8.

• No. 2 Canyon Crest Academy lost to No. 10 Patrick Henry, 46-44, in a Division III playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 25.

The Ravens opened the playoffs with a 57-39 victory over No. 15 Hoover three days earlier.

Ally Deremer scored 14 points to lead the Ravens, and Erin McBurnett added 11 points.

McKenna Platt contributed 10 points, and Erin Peluso and Grace Weinzettle each added 8 points.

The Ravens fell to 12-12 overall for the season.

• No. 2 Santa Fe Christian lost to No. 7 Carlsbad, 50-45, in a Division II playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 28.

The Eagles opened the playoffs with a 51-41 victory over No. 15 Sweetwater on Feb. 25.

The Eagles fell to 17-13 overall for the season.

Boys soccer:

• Top-seeded Torrey Pines defeated No. 8 Poway, 7-1, in an Open Division quarterfinal on Feb. 24.

Asher Booth scored two goals, and Greg Matus scored one goal and had two assists to lead the Falcons.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 17-5-5.

• No. 3 Cathedral Catholic defeated No. 6 Coronado, 3-2, in an Open Division quarterfinal on Feb. 24.

Kian Vidarsson and Milo Barton each scored one goal to lead the Dons and Daniel Mahjouri and Billy Garton each contributed one assist.

The Dons improved their overall record for the season to 15-4-5.

• No. 4 San Dieguito Academy defeated No. 5 Carlsbad, 5-4, in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 24.

The Mustangs improved their overall record for the season to 16-5-4.

The Mavericks fell to 13-6-5 overall for the season.

• No. 3 Canyon Crest Academy defeated No. 6 Orange Glen, 3-2, in a Division I playoff quarterfinal. on Feb. 27.

The Ravens improved their overall record for the season to 10-9-6.

• No. 7 La Costa Canyon lost to No. 2 Chula Vista, 1-0, in a Division I playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 24.

The Mavericks fell to 13-6-5 overall for the season.

Girls soccer:

• Top-seeded Cathedral Catholic defeated Torrey Pines 2-1 in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 25 that was decided by penalty kicks.

Dana Dalton scored the Dons regulation goal on an assist from Olivia Erlbeck.

The Dons won the penalty kicks round 4-2.

The Dons improved to 23-3-2 overall for the season.

The Falcons fell to 13-6-5 overall for the season.

• No. 4 La Costa Canyon defeated No. 5 Westview, 3-2, in an Open Division playoff quarterfinal on Feb. 25.

Megan Grant scored one goal and had one assist to lead the Mavericks, and Danielle Goad and Genesis Lucero each added one goal.

Kallie Kampfl and Chelsea Churchill each added one assist.

The Mavericks improved their overall record for the season to 14-4-3.

• Top-seeded Santa Fe Christian lost to No. 9 Mission Vista, 1-0, in a Division II quarterfinal on Feb. 28.

The Eagles fell to 15-3-2 overall for the season.

The Mustangs fell to 7-14-1 overall for the season.
