Girls basketball:

Torrey Pines ended the year with a bang.

The Falcons defeated perennial power Buena of Ventura 74-55 to win the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic’s NCAA Gold Division on Dec. 30.

Sierra Campisano scored 44 points and had 16 rebounds to lead the Falcons.

Rachel Shen and Angelina Roque each added nine points.

The Falcons opened the tournament with a 75-45 victory over La Costa Canyon on Dec. 26 in which Campisano scored 33 points and had 16 rebounds and six steals.

Meghan Voss added 12 points, five assists and nine steals and Isabella Hoang contributed 11 points.

The Falcons defeated Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) 67-59 in the quarterfinals two days later as Campisano led the team with 33 points and Voss and Hoang added 15 and 13 points, respectively.

The Falcons defeated Immanuel of Reedley (Fresno County) 56-43 in the semifinals on Dec. 29 as Campisano led the way with 31 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 10-3.


San Dieguito Academy defeated Sage Creek 50-39 in the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic’s Prep Division third place game on Dec. 30.

Emma Schneir scored 19 points and had 15 rebounds to lead the Mustangs. Jessica Morilak added 12 points and Claire Pupping contributed six points and 12 rebounds.

The Mustangs went 3-1 in the tournament.

They opened with a 40-19 victory over Orange Glen on Dec. 26.

Two days later Morilak scored 14 points to lead the Mustangs in a 44-16 victory over El Capitan of Lakeside.

The Mustangs lost to Rock Academy 45-44 on Dec. 29.

JoJo Davis led the Mustangs with 18 points and 18 rebounds and Schneir added 17 points and seven rebounds.

The Mustangs improved their overall record for the season to 4-4.


Cathedral Catholic defeated San Marcos 49-43 in a Governors Division SoCal Holiday Prep Classic Tournament game on Dec. 29.

Kaylee Stiffler scored 20 points and had 21 rebounds to lead the Dons and Alaina Alvarez added 14 points.

The Dons went 1-3 in the tournament, culminating with a 50-45 loss to Santa Fe Christian on Dec. 30 in which Alvarez scored 14 points and Stiffler added 12 points.

The Dons fell to 2-7 overall for the season.

Boys basketball:

Torrey Pines lost to El Cerrito (Alameda County) 46-42 in a Under Armour Holiday Classic game on Dec. 29.

Jackson Strong scored 14 points in defeat for the Falcons and Jacob Gilliam added seven points and nine rebounds.

The loss followed a 43-41 loss to Fairfax of Los Angeles the previous day in which Gilliam led the Falcons with 21 points and Strong added 10 points.

The Falcons fell to 10-3 overall for the season.


San Diego Jewish Academy lost to Bonita Vista 96-61 in its Chula Vista Tournament finale on Dec. 30.

Jordan Battaglia scored 32 points in defeat for the Lions and Sam Deverett added 10 points.

The Lions went 2-2 in the tournament.

After losing to San Diego 80-63 in their Dec. 26 tournament opener, the Lions bounced back with a 62-45 victory over Calvary Christian Academy two days later.

Cody Brown scored 23 points to lead the Lions and Battaglia added 21 points.

The Lions defeated Southwest 58-40 the next day as Brown scored 20 and Battaglia added 15 points.

The Lions improved to 5-5 overall for the season.


Boys soccer:

Torrey Pines defeated San Pasqual 3-2 in the championship game of the Oceanside Tournament on Dec. 31.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 9-0-1.
