Cathedral Catholic is off to a 3-0 start after a resounding 34-0 victory over Westview in a nonleague game on Sept. 9. Adam Eastwood rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries to lead the Dons.

Dons quarterback Tate Haynes rushed for 80 yards and one score on 11 carries. He completed 5 of 15 pass attempts for 96 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Alec Simas led the Dons defensively with eight tackles.

Torrey Pines defeated Fallbrook 20-0 in a nonleague game on Sept. 9.The Falcons improved to 2-1 overall for the season.

La Costa Canyon defeated Escondido 41-14 in a nonleague game on Sept. 9.The Mavericks improved to 2-1 overall for the season.

Santa Fe Christian rolled up 287 rushing yards in a decisive 50-7 nonleague victory over Big Bear on Sept. 10.Hank Ontiveros led the way, rushing for 76 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. He was among five ball carriers who scored at least one touchdown.

Caleb Armendariz rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown on three carries and Kevin Loney gained 36 yards and scored one touchdown on two carries.Josh Thompson and Austin Rossetti each rushed for one touchdown.

Sam Geiser led the Eagles defensivley with two sacks and four tackles.The Eagles improved to 2-1 overall for the season.

San Diego Jewish Academy opened its season with a 58-14 nonleague victory over Christian Life Academy on Sept. 8.

Jordan Battaglia was involved in four touchdowns. He completed 6 of 7 pass attempts for 128 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and rushed for 161 yards and two scores on five carries.

Sebastian Meyer rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns on five carries.Carmelo Xia rushed for 87 yards and his first career touchdown on four carries.

Joshua Nachassi had 14 tackles and David Smith had 13 tackles to lead the Lions defensivley. Cody Brown contributed two interceptions and Elliot Muller had two sacks.


Torrey Pines defeated Cathedral Catholic 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) in a nonleague match on Sept. 8.Jaden Whitmarsh had 14 kills to lead the Falcons and Alexis Filippone and Emily Fitzner each added 12 kills.

Falcons setters Kiara McNulty and Brynn Chandler had 19 and 17 assists, respectively.The Falcons improved to 2-1 overall for the season.

Santa Fe Christian won the Fall Classic at the Epic Volleyball Club’s Gold Division championship on Sept. 10.

The Eagles defeated West Hills 2-0 (25-23, 25-12) in the championship match.Tournament MVP Lexi Sun had 16 kills to lead the Eagles and Emily Hubbard added nine kills.The Eagles improved to 10-1 overall for the season.

San Dieguito Academy defeated Olympian 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19) in a nonleague game on Sept. 8.Sarah Colla had 23 kills to lead the Mustangs and Kiahna Holmen added 11 kills.Mustangs setters Kathleen Brown and Faith Kelly each had 18 assists.The Mustangs improved to 8-1 overall for the season.

Del Norte defeated Canyon Crest Academy 3-2 (22-25, 25-0, 25-20, 15-25, 15-11) in a nonleague match on Sept. 6.Ashley Sung had 16 digs in defeat for the Ravens, who fell to 1-1 overall for the season.

Water polo:

San Dieguito Academy lost to Helix 15-10 in a nonleague game on Sept. 8.Sam Dumont scored three goals and had one assist to lead the Mustangs and Nate Conger had two goals and two assists.

Zachary Lewis contributed two goals and one assist and Wesley Tyler had five steals.The loss followed a 21-4 Mustangs victory over Mira Mesa in a nonleague game two days earlier in which Matheus Gensler scored five goals and Conger and Jake Holland each scored four goals. The Mustangs improved to 2-1 overall for the season.

Girls golf:

Cathedral Catholic defeated University City 201-328 in a Western League match at Riverwalk Friars on Sept. 8.The Dons were led by Sabrina Nguyen, who shot a 1-under-par 35 to lead the Dons.

Field hockey:

La Costa Canyon defeated Del Norte 8-2 in a nonleague game.Madison Theodore scored two goals to lead the Mavericks.
