On Friday, Nov. 16, more than 4,000 walkers will travel through the Village of Del Mar on the first leg of a 60-mile journey in support of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer in San Diego.

The Del Mar Village Association, with support from En Fuego Cantina & Grill, will host the official downtown Del Mar Cheering Station and water distribution center for the walkers.

Volunteers, dressed in pink, are needed to help cheer on the walkers and pass out water bottles as they group sweeps through Del Mar between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Nov. 16. Event officials are asking for donations of cases of water bottles to be delivered to En Fuego Cantina & Grill any time prior to Wednesday, Nov. 14.

To add to the festivities, the Torrey Pines High School cheerleaders, and the Del Mar lifeguards and fire fighters will be on hand to cheer on the walkers.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Del Mar to show our community pride and support for these walkers,” said Jen Grove, executive director of the Del Mar Village Association. “We want them to remember the overwhelming support and cheers from the crowd as they walk through the Village of Del Mar.”
