Rancho Santa Fe sports update

Baseball:
Santa Fe Christian defeated San Marcos 1-0 behind a great pitching performance from Cole Acosta to finish the nonleague San Diego Lions tournament with a 2-1 record.
The Eagles opened the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Birmingham of Lake Balboa (Los Angeles County) on April 14. They lost to El Capitan of Lakeside 3-1 the next day.
Acosta pitched a three-hit shutout to lead the Eagles in the San Marcos game on April 16. He struck out 10 batters and allowed two walks.
Dillon Paulson had two hits including a double and Brian Blatnick had one hit and drove in the game’s only run for SFC.
Paulson pitched a three-hitter to lead the Eagles in the Birmingham game. He struck out 10 batters and allowed two walks.
Will Finnerty, who hadn’t played in two years as a result of injuries, had two hits to lead the Eagles offensively in his return.
Finnerty also had two hits to lead the Eagles in the El Capitan game.
The Eagles improved their overall record for the season to 12-5.
Canyon Crest Academy went 2-1 in the San Diego Lions tournament.
The Ravens opened with a 3-1 victory over Brawley on April 14 and defeated Tamalpais of Mill Valley (Marin County) 17-10 the next day. They lost their tournament finale to Santana 3-0 on April 16.
Sam Rhoads struck out six batters in 5 2/3 innings of two-hit ball to lead the Ravens in the Brawley game. Rhoads struck out six batters and allowed four walks.
Jacob Gotta had three hits including two doubles to lead the Ravens offensively.
Gotta and Riley Adams each had three hits and four RBI to lead the Ravens in the Tamalpais game. Gotta had a double and a home run and Adams had two doubles.
The Ravens improved their overall record for the season to 8-8.
Cathedral Catholic lost to Clovis North 10-1 in a San Diego Lions tournament game on April 17.
The Dons lost their last two games in the tournament after winning their first two.
They opened with a 7-6 win against Vista on April 14 and beat Green Valley of Henderson, Nev., 4-1 the next day. They lost to Granite Hills 6-5 on April 16.
The Dons scored the game-winning run to defeat Vista in their last at-bat in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Giovanni Garbella had three hits and scored two runs and Brady Aiken had two hits and two RBI to lead the Dons.
Sean Bouchard added two hits and drove in a run.
Connor Lunn pitched a three-hitter to lead the Dons in the Green Valley game. He struck out nine batters and allowed no walks.
Andrew Wilson had a triple and drove in two runs and Bouchard contributed two hits.
The Dons improved their overall record for the season to 15-3.
Torrey Pines defeated Kennedy of Granada Hills (Los Angeles County) 5-1 on April 17 to finish the nonleague San Diego Lions tournament with a 2-2 record.
The Falcons lost to Palisades of Pacific Palisades 2-1 in their tournament opener on April 14.
They defeated Chaparral of Temecula 6-1 the next day to snap a four-game losing streak but lost to Eastlake 1-0 on April 17.
Tom Baronner had three hits, one RBI and scored two runs to lead the Falcons against Kennedy.
Sophomore Josh Sidney pitched a seven-hitter in his varsity debut to lead the Falcons in the Chaparral game. Sidney allowed no walks.
The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 9-8.
Softball:
Cathedral Catholic defeated Point Loma 4-0 in a Western League game on April 17.
Devyn Magnett pitched a five-hitter to lead the Dons. She struck out five batters and allowed no walks.
Raven LeClair and Samantha Gonzales each had two hits and Sarai Niu hit a home run and had two RBI to lead the Dons offensively.
The Dons improved their overall record for the season to 14-2.
Torrey Pines lost to Westview 6-5 in a Palomar League game on April 17.
The loss followed a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Rancho Bernardo two days earlier.
Emma Wong and Xstaviana Augur each had three hits including a double and two RBI to lead the Falcons offensively in the Westview game.
Kelsey Buchanan and Wong each had two hits to lead the Falcons in the Rancho Bernardo game.
The Falcons fell to 0-2 in league and 13-6 overall for the season.
Girls lacrosse:
Canyon Crest Academy defeated Del Norte 16-7 in a nonleague game on April 18.
The victory followed an 11-8 victory over Westview in a Palomar League game on April 16 and a 16-5 league win against Rancho Bernardo two days earlier.
Katie Carlson scored 10 goals and Rayna Higuchi added three goals to lead the Ravens in the Del Norte game.
Carlson scored seven goals to lead the Ravens in the Westview game.
Higuchi scored four goals and had one assist and Carlson contributed three goals and three assists to lead the Ravens in the Rancho Bernardo game.
The Ravens improved to 3-0 in league and 11-2 overall for the season.
