After some parents complained last year about the RSF School District’s dress code treatment of skinny jeans and yoga pants, the RSF School board set out to review and clarify its policy. The board approved the updated policy at its Feb. 5 meeting.
Superintendent Lindy Delaney said they didn’t make any significant changes, just cleaned up the language with minor tweaks and clarifications. She plans to include the policy in next year’s family guide to clear up any confusion.
Slim-fitting pants are still allowed but with some limitations.
In the policy, tight-fitting pants “made of light-weight stretchy materials such as leggings, tights, jeggings and yoga pants” are not allowed unless covered by a dress or shirt that is longer than a pupil’s closed fist when the arm is held straight down.
No member of the public was present at the meeting for the item.
