Fire crews have halted the spread of a several-acre brush fire off Camino de la Mitra in Rancho Santa Fe, according to firefighting officials.
Firefighters from the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District and Cal Fire responded to a report of a vegetation fire at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to the RSF Fire Protection District, in the 17000 block of Camino de la Mitra.
When they arrived on the scene, firefighters located a fire burning in brush and quickly began to extinguish the flames while county helicopters were called in for air support. One house was temporarily threatened, but fire crews were able to defend it.
The roughly two-acre fire took approximately 30 minutes to be extinguished. Crews remain on scene putting out hot spots and mopping up.
Camino de la Mitra is north of Del Dios Highway. The cause is under investigation.
No structural damage or injuries were reported as of 2:44 p.m. Tuesday.
