After their sold-out debut performance last season, the dynamic new period instrument orchestra and chorus of the Pacific Bach Project will perform in Rancho Santa Fe on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 5 p.m. at the Village Prebyterian Church (6225 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067).

The Pacific Bach Project presents “A Mighty Fortress: Music for Reformation Day, the Feast of St. Michael, and More,” featuring festive music from a wide range of cantatas Bach composed for Sundays during September and October, including BWV’s 130, 19, 79, 80, 51 and 50.

The professional choristers are joined in the double chorus “Nun ist das Heil” by the gifted young singers of the Canyon Crest Academy Choir, together with members of the outstanding choral program at San Diego State University. Rick Westerfield leads the combined forces along with a sparkling cast of vocal and orchestral soloists.

The Pacific Bach Project performs on period instruments, with commentary and English super-titles that make it easy for everyone to appreciate this extraordinary music. Tickets $25-$75 at pacificbach.com or call 800-838-3006.
