The new period instrument orchestra and chorus of the Pacific Bach Project performed in Rancho Santa Fe on Oct. 20 at the Village Presbyterian Church.

The Pacific Bach Project presented “A Mighty Fortress: Music for Reformation Day, the Feast of St. Michael, and More,” featuring festive music from a wide range of cantatas Bach composed for Sundays during September and October, including BWV’s 130, 19, 79, 80, 51 and 50.

The professional choristers were joined in the double chorus “Nun ist das Heil” by the young singers of the Canyon Crest Academy Choir, together with members of the choral program at San Diego State University. Rick Westerfield led the combined forces along with a cast of vocal and orchestral soloists. For more information, visit
