For years the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club had an annual Rummage Sale and the proceeds helped to sustain the club’s annual budget. All year long items small and large were collected from Ranch residents, stored in the Garden Club basement and in a member’s barn that was not in use. Then, in the spring all the items, sofas, furniture, clothes, dishes, small appliances, belts, purses and much more, were “brought up” to the main hall and outside. For two weeks Garden Club members sorted, priced and organized all the goods and then on an early Friday morning the sale began. People came from near and far, they came early and the streets were lined with parked cars. The Garden Club rummage sale had a great reputation for good “stuff” at good prices. It was a lot of work, a great tradition and a fun spirit of community. Now, instead of an annual event that was an enormous amount of work, The Shoppe, located at The Garden Club, is open three days a week, all year.

The Shoppe is thrilled to have your treasures, the patrons are happy to go away with their bargains and the club uses the revenue to maintain the facility. Donna Ferrier, Paul Gozzo and their team of volunteers work together to keep the inventory “shop ready” and the doors open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. of the lower level of the Garden Club. Bring your gently used items in and then look around to see what treasures you might find!

The Holidays are just two months away; the stores are already starting to display the lights and colors of the season. Ginger Bord is taking a bus trip on Friday, Nov. 19, to Newport Beach to visit two favorite gardens. Start the season off with a spectacular and delightful day at Roger’s Gardens and Sherman Library and Gardens in coastal Orange County. Both of these beautiful settings will be decorated with a plethora of decorated trees, displays of seasonal plants and of course the simple beauty of the gardens. The no-host lunch will be at The Jardin Café, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Sherman Gardens. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the group for this special day trip.
