OPINION: Breast cancer statistic incorrect

Regarding the breast cancer article on page 9 of your Oct. 28, 2010 issue of the “Rancho Santa Fe Review.”

The first sentence of the article indicates that breast cancer “strikes one in four women.” This is incorrect and unnecessarily alarming.

The lifetime risk for breast cancer in females in the USA is one in eight, according to current data.
