NASCAR’s Ryan Newman makes a pit stop at Helen Woodward Animal Center
San Diego NASCAR Fans recently caught a peek of racecar great Ryan Newman close to home. The National Celebrity of the Race Circuit, and his wife Krissie, arrived at Helen Woodward Animal Center to show their support for the Center and its mission of placing homeless pets “on the road” to a new life.
Ryan and Krissie Newman are long-time animal welfare advocates. The famous couple founded the Ryan Newman Foundation, whose mission is to educate and encourage people to spay or neuter their pets and to adopt dogs and cats from animal shelters.
Currently, they are in the process of building “Rescue Ranch” in North Carolina – a center modeled after Helen Woodward Animal Center. Krissie Newman, who wrote the book Pit Road Pets (with proceeds benefitting the Humane Society of Catawba County), is also scheduled to speak at Helen Woodward’s upcoming ACES International Conference this September.
Ryan recently heard about four rescued puppies that had been abandoned on I-40 and brought to the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
