Locust Street Taxi to perform at Community Concerts of Rancho Santa Fe event
The third Community Concerts of Rancho Santa Fe performance of the season, featuring Locust Street Taxi, will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, at the recently renovated Village Church Fellowship Hall, 6225 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe.
Locust Street Taxi is comprised of three musical geniuses, and a trombone player. Their performances feature outstanding musicianship, well-crafted memorable songs and an infectious exuberance. Formed in 2001 in the music and theater departments of Centralia College in Washington State, the group has given over 300 performances, has been featured on 10 different Northwest radio and TV stations and performed to a 10,000-person audience at the 2009 “Night Glow” in Walla Walla, Wash.
This group promises to “knock our socks off and flabbergast us as they have been compared to Barenaked Ladies, Sublime and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in their style and vibrancy of music.” As described by Live on Stage, the Nashville production company for Community Concerts, “No one of any age will want to miss this show.”
Their performances make grandmothers smile, children laugh, baby-boomers dance and every audience groove. Be prepared for an in-your-face, spontaneously-combusting piece of musical entertainment.
Community Concerts of RSF delights in bringing an eclectic mix of international talent to the local audience, presenting four concerts each season. CCRSF hosts the largest, continuous event held in Rancho Santa Fe, drawing over 300 subscribers for each concert. The 2013/2014 season is the 14th consecutive year CCRSF has been presenting entertainment for the community.
Beginning at 6:15 p.m., the Fellowship Hall doors open to a catered buffet and complimentary wine, courtesy of Northern Trust. The performance begins at 7 p.m.. During intermission, Yummy Cupcakes provides some of the desserts, along with specialty sweets, donated by community volunteers.
Generous donors are hosted at an after party, usually given at a private residence. Often the performers join the patrons and the Board of Directors to end the evening, getting better acquainted and, occasionally, featuring a cameo performance.
As a special offering for our neighbors and friends, save the date of Sunday, April 27, for Umi Garrett. This will be an additional concert featuring this phenomenal 13-year-old classical pianist, initially featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2009. Since then, Umi has received numerous requests to perform worldwide and has appeared regularly with symphony orchestras around the world. Recently, she was invited to perform a solo recital for the Japan Times in Tokyo and at Carnegie (Weill) Hall.
The Umi Garrett concert will be held at the Performing Arts Center at Rancho Santa Fe, located on the R. Roger Rowe School campus, 5927 La Granada, Rancho Santa Fe. Ticket sales are expected to go rapidly as there will be both adult and student pricing. Purchase your tickets soon and enjoy this spectacular artist in a local, professional performance venue.
