The Performing Arts Center at Rancho Santa Fe officially opens with the first concert on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 5:30 p.m., a benefit event sponsored by Community Concerts of Rancho Santa Fe. Billy Dean, Nashville singer/songwriter and #1 smash recording artist, will perform for this special evening Premiere. This concert is the finale of an afternoon of activity at the new campus of the R. Roger Rowe School in Rancho Santa Fe, 5927 La Granada.

All proceeds from the concert will be designated by Community Concerts for a specific enhancement at the new PAC, which is not completely finished.

The community is invited to attend the festivities, beginning with the School Dedication Ceremony at 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served. There will be tours of the new School facilities and the 324 seat Performing Arts Center, which is located prominently at the center of the campus.

Billy Dean is an iconic Nashville star, with 12 albums and 11 top 10 hits. He was named The Academy of Country Music’s “New Male Vocalist” of the year and additionally honored with the “Song of the Year’ award, has received a GRAMMY and the BMI “Million Air Plays Award.” Dean is noted for his dynamic musicianship and vocal styling, as well as his warm, genuine presence on and off stage.

After the concert, The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe and The Pantry restaurants will offer $5 off food and beverages for each ticket presented. Reservations are suggested. Additional concert sponsors are Del Mar Cotton Candy and the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation.

Community Concerts of Rancho Santa Fe is celebrating its 11th year. They present four concerts each season, selecting a wide range of talent from all musical categories. The concerts are preceded by appetizers and complimentary wine, provided by Northern Trust. Coffee and dessert is served at intermission. An after party at a private home is included for subscribers donating above the ticket price and most often includes an encore by the evening’s performers. The all-volunteer, non-profit organization is committed to enriching the cultural life of the community through live performances, provided at reasonable, family friendly prices.

The PAC Committee, headed by long-time Ranch resident, Carol Warren, was formed to raise funds to upgrade the School’s proposed multi-purpose room to a state-of-the-art performance facility. A goal of $2 million dollars was set to cover the additional expenses, such as enhanced lighting and sound, theatre seating, a fly loft and the dramatic red velvet curtain. Over half of the amount has been raised to date, but some of the improvements will not be completed until the funding goal is reached. The Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, with the assistance of Christy Wilson, Executive Director, is collecting and administering the donations.

Several underwriting levels are available, including naming rights for $1 million. Recognition on the exterior donor wall is offered for $5,000 and the 423 Club was started to offer permanent seat naming plaques for $1,000 each. There are several other categories for giving that have been designated.

Tickets for this concert are $65/adult and $20/children 16 and under. Tickets can be purchased at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation and the R. Roger Rowe School (children’s tickets are available only at the school ticket office) by cash or check, made to “Community Concerts of RSF”.
