Because of fears of the coronavirus spreading, many events published in recent papers have been canceled or postponed--and more events continue to be canceled or postponed. Readers should refer to organizers’ websites and social media posts to check on the status of their events.

One of the events canceled is the March 28 Coach C Walk Against Cancer at Torrey Pines High School. Event co-planner Jake Noble issued the following statement:

“Sadly, following guidelines from the district and state officials, Coach C’s Walk Against Cancer 2020 will not be held. This decision does not come lightly, and the option to donate and receive a t-shirt still stands. We will also be looking into the option of holding a virtual raffle. Our efforts to support those battling cancer, to support the education needs of our community and remember those lost of this terrible disease still stand in our hearts. An option for a refund will be initiated in the next week, or an option to continue to allow the funds to go to the organizations we are supporting still stands. Please, check back in the next week for updates at tphscancerwalk.org (or on social media). Thanks again for your support in our mission!”
