‘Behind the Mask: Changing the Game of Stigma’ gala
The International Bipolar Foundation’s “Behind the Mask: Changing the Game of Stigma” gala was held May 9 at the Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. The event raises funds to improve the understanding and treatment of bipolar disorder through research; promotes care and support resources for individuals and caregivers; and seeks to eliminate stigma through education.
The event included a cocktail hour, delicious dinner and a special message from sportscaster Dick Enberg. IBPF recognized Muffin Spencer-Devlin, professional golfer and WPGA champion, with its IMAGINE award given to those who have bipolar disorder and can see beyond the illness to imagine a future free of barriers, stigma and discrimination.
