Nick’s Picks receives grant from Sunstate Foundation
Del Mar-based Nick’s Picks was very honored to have been chosen to receive a Sunstate Equipment Foundation Grant to continue its work providing fun-filled backpacks to children living in hospital isolation. “The Sunstate Foundation is pleased to be able to support Nick Wallace and Nick’s Picks. It is a great cause, and we plan to stay involved.” Ryan Moore, regional operations manager for The Sunstate Equipment Company.
Nick’s Picks is a 501c3 charity established by Torrey Pines High School Senior student and liver transplant recipient Nick Wallace in 2012 that exists to support hospitalized children with serious, chronic illnesses. The charity’s focus is to provide backpacks loaded with games, toys and comfort items to children — hospitalized and often living in isolation — in an effort to raise their spirits and keep them engaged through play. Through its efforts Nick’s Picks also hopes to offer a sense of comfort and support to these children and their families.
“Nick’s Picks is proud of its expansion over the past five years,” said Nick Wallace, CEO of Nick’s Picks. “We now provide backpacks to 16 hospitals and facilities throughout the country, and this expansion is made possible by our supporters and donors such as The Sunstate Equipment Foundation.”
The Sunstate Equipment Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit charitable foundation, that was recently formed as a way for Sunstate Equipment and its employees to give back to the communities in which they live and work. Sunstate Equipment is based in the western United States, and the foundation receives half of its funding from voluntary employee contributions, with Sunstate matching those employee contributions, dollar for dollar.
