Teen Volunteers in Action SD3 honors the Class of 2017
Teen Volunteers in Action (TVIA-SD3) celebrated 19 graduating seniors at the Rancho Santa Fe Performing Arts Center at its Senior Send-Off ceremony held May 7. The majority of the graduating teens have been members of TVIA since they were in 8th grade, and collectively have invested hundreds of hours serving the San Diego community. The graduating teens represent the following high schools in San Diego County: Torrey Pines, Canyon Crest Academy, La Costa Canyon, Scripps Ranch, Pacific Ridge, Sage Creek, Carlsbad and Cathedral Catholic.
The featured speaker for the event was Ruben Navarrette, who spoke about, “Fighting Through Barriers and Being There For Others Struggling to Do So.” Navarrette is the most widely read Latino columnist in the country and the sixth most popular columnist in America. He is nationally syndicated, with twice-a-week columns appearing in more than 100 newspapers. Visit www.tvia.org.
