Chabad Rancho Santa Fe celebrated the high holiday of Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year, with a “Shofar Factory” on Sept. 13. Children made their own traditional shofars out of ram’s horns; sounding the handmade instrument is meant to symbolize a wake-up call for the new year. The children also ate apple slices dipped in honey and other sweet things to symbolize a “sweet new year.”
